Statewide Coalition Staff Directory

NOTE: All staff except the fair trade coordinator are part-time.

Maureen Casey has been the Coalition’s International Project Coordinator since 1997. She has had experience working as a volunteer with the Witness for Peace Program, organizing and participating in two-week delegations to Nicaragua. At the Coalition, she has organized delegations to Fair Trade cooperatives to educate delegates about globalization and free trade. She also works with the delegates to advocate for just and equitable trade policies and serves as a social justice consultant with New York State United Teachers. Maureen has served on the Board of Directors for the Coalition for Justice in the Maquiladoras. She received a B.A. from the College of New Rochelle and an A.A.S and R.N. from Maria College of Albany. Maureen also is co-author of Border Witness: Youth Confront NAFTA . Anne Kelly, Fair Trade Coordinator, joined the Coalition in January 2008. She works to promote the use of  Fair Trade products such as coffee and chocolate, primarily throughout  NYSUT.  She will also work to increase awareness and knowledge of the Fair Trade movement. Sara Niccoli began her work as Co-Director on March 1, 2011, with a focus on development and communications. For the past 5 years, Sara operated a successful fundraising and strategic planning consulting business serving nonprofits diverse in size and issue-orientation. Prior to starting her business, Sara was the Director of Development and Communications at the Center for Alternative Sentencing and Employment Services (CASES), responsible for securing the organization’s $9.5 million annual budget. Sara served as Assistant Director of Development at the Fifth Avenue Committee, Inc., a community-based social service and advocacy organization in Brooklyn. She began her career working in the field of community development for the City of Albany Department of Planning and Economic Development and later the New York City Local Initiatives Support Corporation. She holds an M.P.A. in Nonprofit Management from the Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service at New York University. She will be in the office three days a week. Brian O’Shaughnessy also began a new phase of his leadership of the LRCNYS with the title of Co-Director and a focus on programs and campaigns. He was the organization's first executive director, beginning in 1994. An ordained Catholic minister for the Diocese of Albany, New York between 1971 and 1988, Brian has been a community leader and activist in the area for more than three decades. He is a founding member of the Capital District Community Loan Fund, the Employee Ownership Project of the Albany Region, Solidarity Housing, the Hudson-Adirondack Spirituality Center, and the Troy Neighbor to Neighbor Program, among others. Brian founded the Albany Diocesan Peace and Justice Commission, which he headed for 13 years. He plans to be in the office for two & a half days a week beginning in April. Martha Schultz maintains the Coalition’s web site as well as working on other communications and event-related tasks. After a career as a public school teacher, she was a staff member at the NYS Coalition Against Sexual Assault and other non-profit, educational organizations. She holds a B.A from Smith College and a M.A in women's studies from the George Washington University. She joined the Coalition in March 2001.
