PRAY, REFLECT ACT:
Support Comprehensive Immigration Reform
In March of 2008, Labor-Religion's FAST focused on the theme: "Welcome the Immigrant." It reminded everyone of the Scriptural demands: "You must not oppress the stranger....for you lived as strangers in the land of Egypt" and "Treat others the way you want them to treat you."
As you prepare to fast, learn more about, reflect on and take action to support comprehensive immigration reform that includes a path to citizenship.
See the Other Campaigns> Immigration Reform section on this site for links to immigrant reform organizations that are part of the Labor-Religion network. Scroll down for suggestions from among many excellent NYS and national resources.
| NY Immigration Reform
Immediate opportunities for action are coming from the group NY Immigration Reform. Visit NY Road Trip for Our Future to see the route of a Feb. 15-19 caravan ride. At ten stops across the state, local supporters will have the opportunity to meet with congressional representatives and ask for their support .
Also visit www.NYimmigrationreform.org to learn more and to sign a petition. Signers say YES to comprehensive immigration reform that includes:
- the protection of due process
- a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants
- protection for all workers
- access to education for all youth
- unity for all of our families
NY Immigration Reform is part of the Campaign to Reform Immigration FOR America, a "united national effort that brings together individuals and grassroots organizations with the mission to build support for workable comprehensive immigration reform." The Campaign to Reform Immigration FOR America is, in part, a project of the Tides Advocacy Fund. Follow links for more:
